Our emissions
How much is 12,000 tons of CO2? We can compare with other products and activities causing emissions. In 2021, our business accounted for emissions correspondingly 5,131,063 Big Macs. That’s a lot, still 757,000 less than the previous year. If we compare with flights, our emissions in 2021 corresponded to 5,480 round trips Oslo-Thailand.

We have a forward leaning approach to contribute to the green shift. Our subsidiary company Gunnar Knutsen AS has acquired several biogas trucks. On Trønder- and Meråkerbanen in Norway we utilise low-carbon concrete that will reduce our emissions with additionally 39% in the project.
We re-use
We are constantly looking for ways to reduce waste generated by our company and to re-use and recycle materials used in projects. On the Raide-Jokeri light rail project in Finland were 10,000 tons of concrete structures, originally planned to be demolished along the 25km light rail line, re-used in nearby projects to replace the use of virgin aggregates.
We minimize spill
We believe that any spill is avoidable. We have made significant investments in people, processes, and equipment to eliminate spills. Our investment is paying off and no reported accidental spills in 2021.
We handle hazardous substances with care
We have a set of formal processes and training for the handling of hazardous substances. In 2021, there were no reported incidents involving our handling and use of hazardous substances.
